Buna (Hello from Romania)!

I have traveled a few thousand miles since my last blog post. After two months in Rwanda we packed our backpacks and headed to Romania. Being here, meeting the people, seeing the faces, being in direct contact with the Ukrainians who have fled from their home to seek refuge has been a very humbling experience. The war currently going on is so much more than just a news story and high gas prices. It’s families being ripped apart. It’s towns being ruined. It’s people leaving everything they know to seek refuge in a foreign place with unfamiliar people and languages. It’s real and it’s happening now.

Pray for Ukraine. Pray for Russia. Pray for the leaders and the people. Pray for the surrounding countries to continue to get the support they need to help those coming into their countries.

As you can imagine, our days are busy and every interaction we have is changing the way we see people and view the world. While in Romania, we are partnering with Hope Church. Hope Church exists to impact people with the hope of Christ from Draganesti-Olt to the ends of the earth.  Hope Church is working around the clock to help the Ukrainians who are in transit through Romania from Ukraine as well as offering refuge to families in need of a place to stay. While we are here, we have the opportunity to meet with the families daily, organize and distribute the food/clothing donations coming through, as well as share the love of Jesus with everyone we come in contact with.

At church yesterday I couldn’t keep my eyes from leaking. We were one. In one building. Worshiping the same God. Praying. Ukrainians. Romanians. Americans. All together. It was a beautiful picture of God’s Kingdom here on earth. We all bring our pain, fears, excitement, joy, expectations and challenges and get to lay them at the feet of Jesus.

It has only been one week and I have seen God move in mighty ways. I am looking forward to seeing how God continues to work in this place. I am so grateful that I get to play a very small roll in this ministry this month.

Prayer Request:

-the staff of Hope Church- that God would continue to provide strength, energy and wisdom as they navigate through this time.

-the families from Ukraine, that they would feel peace that surpasses all understanding during this time.

-my squad and me as we finish the last two months of the race. 🙂 (time is flying by!)

Just one photo. Maybe one of the most influential lunches I have ever received. While we were visiting our new friends from Ukraine, they had prepared a traditional Ukrainian soup for us to eat. I have learned so much from their generosity and kindness despite their circumstances.

  1. Morgan Mae! Your words perfectly conveyed the extreme gravity of the Ukrainian people and the sovereignty of our God to have you there, Morgan, at such a time as this. I know you are making an eternal difference in the lives and hearts of these broken people. Uncle Steve and I pray for you and your team everyday. We love you very much.

  2. Morgan,
Thank you for giving us a vivid picture of how God’s Spirit is moving in the middle of the devastating and unthinkable war, displacement, separation, and unknown futures for Our Ukrainian sisters and in Christ. (I’m aware that the men are not allowed to leave Ukraine)
Thank you also for sharing specifics prayer needs as well as tangible ways we can financially help in this ministry.
Thank you and your team for daily being and extension of Christ to all that you come in with.
I love you all and pray continually.??

  3. Morgan- Your journey over these past nine months has been amazing! God has used you and your team to show God’s love for them through hard work, acts of kindness and just sharing God’s love to all the people along the path of your 11 month journey!!! Praying for you and the team!!!!

  4. Morgan, this is incredible to see. Seriously, it’s amazing to see how God is using your hands and experiences not only to move mountains there, but is using your words to show those of us supporting you from the side just how powerful he is. Praying you stay safe, are lifted up continuously, and have life changing impacts on those you meet. You’re a good representative of Christ and his love – so happy for you and this opportunity!

  5. Awesome blog! I can almost visualize where you are and what youre doing!! What An incredible impact you are having on those who are so broken right now!! Praying for you and the team and the beautiful people you are loving and serving!! Love you modge! ??

  6. It’s hard to put into words the emotions that go along with the ministry you did in Romania. You and L Squad, along with Hope Church, other volunteers, M Squad, and countless others have pitched in to ease the suffering of the Ukrainian people. I can’t even fathom the emotions of the women and children having to flee everything they know that’s familiar, leaving their husbands and older sons behind to fight, to head to a country that speaks another language with nothing but the clothes on their backs and little children in tow.

Dear God, PLEASE bring YOUR kingdom to this earth! Every person on this planet DESPERATELY needs YOU. Thank YOU that you send people to help fight the forces of evil with love, kindness, caring, and generosity. Thank you that LOVE overcomes evil. Thank YOU that YOU win in the end! Please provide abundantly for the refugees and those helping. Please put an end to the war. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
